Have To Go

I wish you could stay a little longer in the world of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.  You get so excited at the mention of Christmas and fearless against the Elf on the Shelf stalking your every move.
But I know you have to go.
I wish you could sit on my lap a little longer while we cuddle and I read stories to you in our "reading chair" while you hold your blankey so tight.
But I know you have to go.
I wish we could make more Play-Doh masterpieces and you be the waitress and I be the customer.
But I know you have to go.
I wish we could go on singing silly made up songs and pile the sofa cushions into forts while I try to answer your profound questions.
But I know you have to go.
I wish I could save you from the monsters in the world, both imagined and real; save you from having your heart broken a time or two and all the uncertainties of life but I know you have to go and find it all out on your own.
I do wish you could stay little a bit longer but I know you have to go.
