“ Hi, I ‘m Yvonne with a Y” she said as she slid into the back seat. This little pixie of a woman full of energy with red hair and a big smile. Joe was close behind with an equally big, sheepish smile on his face. Proud as a cat who just caught a canary. This is how we met the happy couple this evening.
She is completely adorable and genuine and obviously very fond of Joe.
She told me she was nervous but you wouldn’t
have noticed. She talked and bubbled on the entire evening and was a delight. Joe, who usually does all the talking, could hardly get a word in! They are so cute together. She is obviously in charge and for the first time in Joe’s life he has someone who is looking out for him, scolding him, and is happy to be near him. It took him 63 years to experience this.

I dont know what her story is or why she is living where she is living. She reads, used to drive a car and has a heartwarming positive attitude that we should all have. She is a treasure.
Dave and I caught each others eye a few times during dinner with disbelief in Joe’s good fortune in having her in his life. This is just the best thing that we could imagine for him and apparently she is just as lucky to have Joe in her life.
So, Yvonne with a Y, we are so thankful that you are making our old friend so happy. Best. Christmas he has ever had!
2018 update - December 17th
Monday morning 11:12 a.m.
So tonight is the night we take our old friend Joe out for Christmas dinner. Dave and I have often wondered thru the past year if by some miracle he and Yvonne (with a "Y") were still an item. The odds, considering their fragile circumstances, are pretty slim. We won't know until we pick him up for dinner this evening. Let 'ya know later.
